Statins of no benefit for ARDS

A new randomized controlled trial out of the UK that investigated 540 patients with ARDS from sepsis showed no benefit of statins.  The study investigated the use of Simvastatin 80 mg/day vs placebo in patients with ARDS from sepsis and found no difference over placebo in 28-day mortality or ventilator-free days.  There was an increase in myositis in the statin group.
